Overview

Prelude is a dating practice app that lets you have conversations with AI characters to build confidence and improve your communication skills. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how you can control it.

Data We Collect

• Account information — We use anonymous authentication to identify your account. No email address or personal login is required.
• Profile information — The display name, bio, age, and interests you provide during onboarding are stored to personalize your experience.
• Conversations — Your chat messages with AI characters are stored on our servers to maintain conversation history and track progress.
• Game progress — Scores, matched characters, and tier progression are stored to track your activity.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• Location data
• Contacts or photos
• Browsing history
• Advertising identifiers

How We Use Your Data

• To store and display your conversations and progress
• To generate AI character responses personalized to your profile
• To track your game progression (scores, matches, tier unlocks)

Third-Party Services

• Firebase Authentication (Google) — Used for anonymous sign-in. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• OpenAI — Your conversation messages are sent to OpenAI's API to generate character responses. Subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy. OpenAI does not use API data for training.
• Apple/Google In-App Purchases — Subscription billing is handled entirely by Apple or Google. We do not see your payment details.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Conversation messages are sent to OpenAI solely for generating AI responses.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure servers. Conversations and profile data are associated with your anonymous account and are not accessible to other users. Communication between the app and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS.

Data Deletion

You can reset your account and delete all associated data (profile, conversations, progress) from the Settings tab within the app. Once deleted, your data is permanently removed from our servers.

Children's Privacy

Prelude is not directed at children under 17. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the app.
