Open Seat
Privacy Policy
Overview
Open Seat is a spontaneous dating app: you host or join real-life dates that start within two hours. Because the app connects you with real people for real meetings, we keep data collection to what the product needs and nothing more. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and how you can control it.
Data We Collect
- Account information - You sign in with an email address, or with your Apple or Google account. We store your account identifier and email.
- Profile data - Your name, age, profile pictures, and any optional fields you add (bio, interests, what you are looking for, partner preferences). Your profile is shown to other users when you host a date or request to join one.
- City selection - You manually choose the city you use Open Seat in (currently Haarlem or Amsterdam). We do not use GPS and never collect your precise location.
- Date listings - When you host a date we store its title, description, meeting location description, start time, an optional cover picture, and what you are looking for in the date.
- Requests and chat - Your requests to join dates (including the short message you write) and chat messages exchanged with a confirmed date.
- Notification preferences and device token - If you opt into notifications, we store a push token for your device and your per-city preferences.
- Reports - If you report another user, we store the report for review.
How We Use Your Data
- To show your profile and date listings to other users in your selected city.
- To deliver join requests and chat between you and a confirmed date.
- To send you notifications you opted into (for example, a new date hosted in your city).
- To keep the platform safe: handling reports and enforcing blocks.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not track your location.
- We do not share your data with third parties for advertising.
- Listings automatically expire at their start time. Expired listings are no longer visible to anyone in the app.
Blocking and Reporting
You can block or report any user. Blocking hides you and the other person from each other across the app. Reports are stored so we can review them; reports about a user remain after that user deletes their account, as part of keeping the platform safe.
Data Storage
Data is stored with Google Firebase (authentication, pictures, notifications) and on our application servers. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections.
Deleting Your Data
You can delete your account at any time from Settings inside the app. This permanently removes your profile, pictures, date listings, requests, chats, and blocks. Reports you filed or that concern you are retained for safety review.
Age Requirement
Open Seat is for adults aged 18 and over.
